Weight Watchers: Weeks 3-4

Starting Weight: 207lb!!
Starting Dress Size: 18
For five weeks now I have been on weight watchers.  I have only told a couple of people; my parents, siblings, and husband.  With out knowing if this was going to help me or not, I didn't want a lot of people asking me about it.  Being self conscious about my weight I wasn't super keen with sharing this personal experience.  However, with being on this program five weeks, the results have amazed me and I want to share my journey and success with whomever is thinking of doing the same. My first goal was to loose 10 lbs by mid January for our Hawaii trip.

Weeks 3-4:
David came home!!!  I was very happy to see him, and I knew it wasn't going to be easy with my diet.  Not only was it the holidays, but I like to cook for him.  However, I was determined to get him on board as well.  At the grocery store we got a lot of vegetables and fruit.  I was able to make healthy meals, and when we did eat out made healthy choices.  I've noticed my healthy choices also rubbed off on Dave as well.  We ate a side salad before dinner, go for walks a lot, and when snacking make healthy choices.

Christmas week, I was pretty sure I wasn't going to loose weight.  I didn't want to ruin our holiday by being on a diet, but I also didn't want to gain any.  Instead of our holiday being decided on food, we wanted to start our own traditions. We went to the zoo the Sunday before.  Surprisingly we stayed all day.  We had expected to only stay 2-3 hours, but had a blast with all the festivities.  We walked so much and all the meals we ate we split, so we consumed reasonable servings.

We made a very last minute decision to go to Disneyland for two days.  This way we could enjoy all the festivities, get some exercise in, and with only a week before his next work trip.  We had a blast!!  If you haven't gone to Disneyland during the holidays, make sure you stay until night time.

Christmas Eve was so much fun at Disneyland.  We enjoyed the lights so much.  Its a small world is gorgeous and we stood and looked at it for quite a while.  We did a lot in a few hours.  We avoided the crowd in Tomorrowland, and really enjoyed the other parts of the park.  We've already seen Fantasmic, so we were able to go on all the rides with no line.  What did we eat?  Well we went to the Horseshoe; split a fish and chips basket, and each had a root beer float.  This filled us up enough to get through the night until we got back to our hotel.

In the morning, we had a nice breakfast at the hotel. Christmas day we spent in California Adventure park.  It was nice and quite all morning.  We got on a lot of rides, and really enjoyed each moment.  For lunch, we went and got Christmas dinners at Flo's Cafe.  It included; turkey, mashed potatoes, lots of veggies, cranberry sauce, and stuffing.  They were nice small portions of carbs; with all the veggies and turkey we were stuffed. We left around 2pm.  It was starting to get busy, and we were ready to get home.

The rest of the week and the following was so much healthier than our prior to weight watchers.  Our meals included more vegetables, less starches, more salads, and we tried to be more active. We ordered pizza one night. I got a thin crust veggie pizza, and a Greek salad.  I was able to indulge and get my craving out.

Biggest Obstacle: Sciatica
I suffered from a back injury during week four.  I was getting something out of the fridge and fell in crippling pain.  Dave had to pick me up, and laid me in the living room.  It was the worst pain I've ever experienced.  Spasms of pain would shoot down my leg and radiate through out the whole right side of my body.  He was pretty much my legs for 24 hours.  Lets just say our relationship went to a new level that night.

Through out my recovery I was pretty immobile, plus I was on pain/muscle relaxers which made me super sleepy.  I didn't want to make this another situation where I felt I could cheat.  So I ate healthy, and tried to stretch a lot.  I would only do one painful lap around the park, but at least it was moving.  David was the best husband, he made my meals, and often helping me up, into the car etc.  I did loose weight this week, just by eating healthy.

Total Weight Loss: 7lbs
Top Tip: Don't drink your calories! Dave is a big soda drinker, and it so easy to go to a vending machine for a pepsi.  The soda habit I know is hard to kick. To still get your fix, with zero calories try a clear soda with 0 calories.  (Diet Sierra Mist, Sprite Zero, or Fresca)  Or if you don't like those flavors have seltzer water and spritz some Mio or water enhancers into it.  We did this with an orange Mio and it tasted very close to Sunkist with zero calories or carbs!!
